This is an excellent shiraz mataro (mourvèdre) release from Wendouree and the 2017 vintage. Wendouree is the Clare Valley in Australia’s leading producer, and distribute their wines through a legendary mailing list. This wine, tasted at 9 years of age, has a gentle aroma of plums spice and cedar. The palate is refined and has a genuine balance to it. Wendouree’s wines can be singular and awkward in their youth, but this wine at 9 years of age is well worth the wait. Drink this delicious wine over the next decade.
