Leeuwin Estate Prelude Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 Review

Leeuwin Estate “Prelude” Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 Review

This is a great value wine from Leeuwin Estate.  I used to find Leeuwin Estate’s cabernets too green and smoky for my preference, but recent vintages such as their 2020 Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon, and now this wine, appear to indicate a change of style.  This wine is not green and rather delicious for an entry level wine.  From the 2022 vintage in the Margaret River in Australia, it is labelled as the “Prelude” cabernet sauvignon.  Intended for earlier drinking, it is ripe, tannic and approachable.  It is supplemented by enjoyable blackcurrant and bay leaf like characters.  Drink this wine over the next 5 years.  Review Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 90 points). Website: Leeuwin Estate. Tasted: July 2026.
