This wine review is of Leeuwin Estate’s “Art Series” cabernet sauvignon. Leeuwin Estate is among the top producers in the Margaret River in Western Australia. I have been critical of Leeuwin’s “lean and green” cabernet style in the past. The 2020 vintage of this wine however is very good. Credit is due. In the glass, this wine has aromas of leaf, herbs, boot leather and cedar. The palate is medium bodied. Its distinguishing attribute is that the wine finishes with long length and delicate blackcurrant flavours. This wine is not dissimilar to the Mount Mary Quintet from the Yarra Valley. It will suit cellaring for a further decade. Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 91 points). Website: Leeuwin Estate. Tasted: December 2024. Like the Review? Subscribe for free.
