This is high quality pinot gris from Ross Hill’s “Pinnacle Series” from the cool climate Orange region in Australia. Orange is a region that, in my experience, can provide an uncannily European expression of classic grape varieties. From a vineyard above 1,000 metres, this pinot gris has textbook aromas of pears and quince. The palate is fresh, mealy and bready. These characters are consistent with well judged time on lees and ageing in old oak. Drink this lovely pinot gris over the next few years. Review Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 91 points). Source: Sample. Website: Ross Hill Wines. Tasted: July 2026.
