Mora Dry Riesling 2023 Review

Mora Dry Riesling 2023 Review

This wine is from Mora and is a dry riesling from Bannockburn in Central Otago in New Zealand.  It’s bottled in a chardonnay bottle, an unusual choice for riesling to be sure, but it proves a false indicator of modest quality aspirations.  This wine in fact is a delicious, pure fruited expression of cold climate riesling.  There are intense aromas of lemons and green apple, the latter piercing.  The palate is very dry and stone characters supplement its high acid finish. This is a long ageing style. It can be drunk now for its pure and youthful fruit, aged for 5-8 years for some toasty, tertiary development or kept safely for many more years. Review Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 90 points). Website: Mora Wines. Tasted: May 2026.  Like: Subscribe.
