34 year old vines situated at high altitude are usually a good start for a riesling grown in the warmer latitudes such as Mudgee. Happily, I found myself quite enjoying it.
The wine is bright, with a pale intensity and almost water-white colour in the glass. Aromatics of medium intensity lemon, lime and yellow grapefruit are predominant. The palate is framed by high acidity, but unlike many rieslings I taste these days, this one has some body and flavour, with the lemon, lime and grapefruit characters identified aromatically following through to the palate with a medium length finish. There’s a touch of youthful petillance there too.
Overall, I think this is a good to very good riesling due to the balance achieved between its racy acidity and lime driven fruit flavours and nice length. Drink over the next decade. Good to Very Good
