No bottle shot I’m afraid. Yarra Yering’s Dry Red No 1 (a benchmark Yarra Valley blend of Bordeaux grapes) from the 2005 vintage has aromatics of blackcurrant, tobacco, blackberry and cigar box even, but mostly of cedar and clove. The palate has notes of blackcurrant, tobacco and cedar with medium to long length and some good, albeit not outstanding, depth of flavour. The tannins though are grippy, and seem to be drying out a little. I would suggest that this wine is ready to drink now. Overall, a good release, although I won’t be rushing out to buy it. Good to Very Good
