This wine is Rockford’s “Rifle Range” cabernet sauvignon from the new release 2022 vintage and the Barossa Valley in Australia. Rockford’s Rifle Range can sometimes rival the more celebrated sibling, the Basket Press shiraz, though both are typically outstanding wines. You can read my review of the 2022 Basket Press here. I regularly taste and review the Rifle Range, and the 2022 is very good release. It’s currently a youthful wine with aromas of leaf and capsicum. The palate has firm tannins and teeth staining purple fruit, and a harmony to it. There’s considerable promise here. Give this very good wine another 5 years before approaching.
