Well, go figure. 2011 was a difficult vintage in the Barossa Valley, yet Rockford have managed to produce a really quite good Rifle Range cabernet sauvignon from it. Its style in this vintage seems a little more Bordeaux, a little less Barossa Valley, perhaps because of the conditions. It has aromatics that remind of chocolate, plum, dark cherry, spice and bay leaf. The palate has between medium and long length, and is balanced, with nuances of chocolate, plum and dark cherry. Lovely drinking now, I would suggest cellaring this Rifle Range for at least five years.
