This is an outstanding second wine from Château Montrose. With the escalation of cru classé prices, the second wines of these top Bordeaux estates often prove the better option. In this case, the 2017 vintage of La Dame de Montrose is particularly good. There are brooding aromas of blackcurrant and cedar. The palate is medium bodied, the tannins fine boned and the length long on the finish. This excellent wine is in fact better than many cru classés and is ready to drink now.
