This wine is the 2015 cabernet sauvignon from Greenock Creek in the Barossa Valley in Australia. Greenock Creek are best known for their ripe and pure fruited shiraz styles and can produce very high quality wines. I have had considerable success with their “Apricot Block” shiraz in particular. I have had some success with their more restrained and lower alcohol cabernet sauvignon, but not this particular vintage. The 2015 vintage has quite distinctive aromas of herbs, gum leaves, bayleaf and is supplemented by a little dusty cedar. The palate has herbal and leafy characters intermingled with somewhat sweet red cloying fruit. Overall I found this is a difficult wine that seems to move between under and overripe characters. Drink it over the next year or two. Review Rating: Acceptable (★★, 80 points). Website: Greenock Creek Wines. Tasted: October 2026.
