Mora Bannockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir 2022 Review

Mora Bannockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir 2022 Review

This wine is from Mora in Central Otago in New Zealand and the 2022 vintage.  Mora produce a variety of pinot noirs from different Central Otago regions (see the review of their 2024 pinot noir here from the Pisa sub region).  I first encountered this producer’s wines at what seems like the restaurant at the end of the universe, Milford Lodge at the extraordinary Milford Sound. Bannockburn is the warmest sub region in Central Otago, but the house style of Mora is restrained.  This expresses itself in this wine, which has aromas of red cherry with a hint of dark fruit. It is a very enjoyable, cool climate expression of Central Otago pinot noir.  The palate has fresh acidity and cherry characters. Drink this wine over the next 3 to 6 years.  Review Rating: Good to Very Good (★★★☆, 88 points). Website: Mora Wines. Tasted: July 2026.
