Gembrook Hill Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2021 Review

Gembrook Hill Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2021 Review

Gembrook Hill are a top Yarra Valley producer making pinot noir from the cooler upper Yarra Valley region.  There can be a dramatic stylistic difference between pinot noir from here and from lower altitude sites. Fellow top producer Mount Mary, for example, located in lower altitude yet still cool Coldstream, produce a much richer style of pinot noir.

The 2021 vintage of Gembrook Hill’s pinot noir has restrained aromas of strawberry, stones and spice. The palate does not diverge from these characters. There is a little fruit ripeness for the very observant and the colour is unquestionably pale. The wine is perhaps just a little too subtle at this juncture. Give it another few years to open up.  Review Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 90 points). Website: Gembrook Hill. Tasted: June 2026.  Like: Subscribe.
