Gembrook Hill Pinot Noir

Gembrook Hill Pinot Noir 2019

Gembrook Hill in the upper Yarra Valley make a decidedly cool climate expression of Yarra Valley pinot noir.  Their vineyard is one of the older vineyards in the upper Yarra Valley, and its style differs markedly from valley floor expessions of Yarra Valley pinot noir. The 2019 vintage has restrained red fruit aromas.  Its palate is minerally and floral and most of all, tightly wound and restrained.  This is first rate pinot noir but it will take time to show its character. Give it 5 years to open up.  Rating: Good to Very Good (★★★☆, 89 points). Website: Gembrook Hill. Tasted: April 2023.
