This is a sound wine from Roberto Flammini and Ribeira Sacra in Spain. It is from the mencia grape variety, a variety which can have “shape shifting” characters, ranging from firm, oaked and structured styles through to light, tannic reds. This wine is in between. It has an aroma of red fruits, and pomegranates specifically. The palate’s defining character is very firm, powdery tannins. Drink this wine over the next few years.
