This wine is not to be confused with Château Citran, the Haut Médoc of a similar name and distinguished reputation. This is a mistake is easily made, including by your author thinking this wine an unexpected bargain. It is instead a related wine of this producer and is labelled as “Citran” and “Bordeaux Supérieur”. As is usual for this classification, it is a merlot dominant blend. The wine has aromas of tomato and cedar. The palate has firm tannins that are a little bitter and reminders of blackcurrant. Drink this sound wine over the next couple of years.
