Rieussec Sauternes Review

Château Rieussec Sauternes 2001 Review

This wine is Sauternes very near its best.  Château Rieussec has produced an outstanding wine in the 2001 vintage, a great vintage for the sweet wines of Bordeaux.  The wine has aromas and flavours of marmalade, old cedar and crème brûlée.  The palate is supported by fresh, high acidity. Its distinguishing feature though is a sublime harmony in its expression of just right sweetness, which is neither too cloying nor joyless. Drink this delicious wine over the next decade and beyond. Review Rating: Very Good to Outstanding (★★★★☆, 94 points). Website: Lafite. Tasted: September 2025.  Like: Subscribe.
