From Porongurup in Western Australia, this is a lovely pinot noir from Castle Rock Estate and the 2023 vintage. If the region’s name is not familiar, it is a less commonly seen Australian wine region. You can find it at the very southern end of Western Australia, a locality that can produce very good cool climate styles. This wine has characteristic pinot noir aromas of game, bacon and autumn leaves, together with a struck match character. It is between medium and full bodied and savoury and youthful in impression. Drink now. Review Rating: Good to Very Good (★★★☆, 89 points). Website: Castle Rock Estate. Source: Sample. Tasted: August 2024.
