Porongurup is near the southern point of Western Australia. This is a cool climate growing region suited to pinot noir and is within the Great Southern wine region. The style of pinot noir matches the climate. The 2023 vintage has aromas of red fruits, and underneath this, herbs and bacon. The palate is medium+ bodied and has a gamey, red fruited character. The wine finishes crisply and the alcohol is a modest 12.5, low in the context of Australian pinot noir. Review Rating: Good to Very Good (★★★☆, 88 points). Website: Castle Rock Estate. Source: Sample. Tasted: June 2024.
