Château Cantemerle from the Haut Médoc is one of the more regularly reviewed Bordeaux grand cru classé wines on this website. The 2020 is on the same path as the good 2019 vintage. It’s enjoyable and easy to drink. It has classic blackcurrant and cedar aromas, but has a thread that is a little more earthy. This latter character may not appeal to all. The palate is reasonably firm and tannic, but not overly so and its well judged vanilla and clove oak contribution add to the wine. This wine can be approached now but it will also benefit from a few years in the cellar. Review Rating: Good to Very Good (★★★☆, 88 points). Website: Château Cantemerle. Tasted: June 2024.
