Château Cantemerle is one of the more affordable Bordeaux cru classés, although this particular wine from the strong 2010 vintage still comes with a $90 price tag in Australia. You may be able to find it for half of that price overseas due to the Australian tax system. Fortunately, this is the best vintage of the Cantemerle I’ve tried to date. A deep intensity purple in colour in the glass, the wine has classic left bank Bordeaux aromatics of blackcurrant, cedar and cigar box. The palate has resolved tannins, long length and appealing flavours of opulent blackcurrants. Seemingly ready to drink now, this wine will please most. Review Rating: Very Good (★★★★). Website: Château Cantemerle. Tasted: December 2013.
