This wine is from Bream Creek on the east coast of Tasmania and the 2021 vintage. I’ve had some very good vintages from Bream Creek, but this vintage I’m afraid isn’t one of them. It may suit other palates. It opens to very intense aromas of red fruits and redcurrant in particular. A soft petillance is consistent with the wine’s youth. The palate is between medium and full bodied with sweet red fruits on the finish. Overall the wine is a very intense red fruited expression of pinot noir and its closest analog is a Marlborough pinot noir style or a Macedon wine with very ripe fruit. It appears quite ripe despite its cool climate red fruit character. The label pointing to 14.0 alcohol did not dissuade me. Overall, the intensity of the red fruit character cloaked other impressions and presented as somewhat one dimensional for a wine retailing for circa $50. This wine may be too early to drink. Rating: Good (★★★, 87 points). Website: Bream Creek Vineyard. Tasted: April 2023.
