Rockford Grenache 2017

This wine review is of the 2017 vintage of Rockford’s “Dry Country” grenache from the Barossa Valley. The wine opens to dark and brooding aromas of plums. The palate is more expressive than its aroma. On the palate, the wine is dry, full bodied, the texture velvety and its components in good balance. Its fruit is of the savoury red and dark plums grenache genre, rather than being juby, heady or head-achy. Overall, the wine is balanced and harmonious, yet joyously velvety and savoury fruited, so the wine can be contemplated or indeed glugged. Ready to drink now. Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 93 points). Website: Rockford Wines. Tasted: December 2022.
