I learnt two things from this wine. First, it provides yet further evidence of the greatness of the 2009 vintage in Bordeaux. Second, there are estates tucked away in the storied but tiny Pauillac appellation that somehow remain under the radar. The Chateau Tour Sieujean can be picked up for a song, sure a Bordeaux song at a bit over $50, but a song nonetheless in terms of the quality of this wine. Deeply coloured, it has classic left bank Bordeaux cedar and blackcurrant aromatics. The palate is exuberant and joyful, with blackcurrant notes predominant. This will not last long in your glass.
