The 2013 Moss Wood Amy’s is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, malbec and merlot, the proportions not disclosed. Fined and filtered, it sees 16 months in oak, none of it new. In the glass, this is a lighter, more medium bodied expression of the Amy’s. Its aromatics are classic Margaret River in style – earth, blackcurrant and pinched cloves. The palate is balanced, and the length on the finish perfectly pleasant, if not particularly deep, long or engaging. Ready to drink now this is certainly a nice wine, but to be honest, I expected more.
