This wine is from Laura Catena and labelled as “La Posta” and “Paulucci”. It’s a malbec from Mendoza in Argentina and the 2023 vintage. I mistakenly assumed from the label design and prominent descriptions such as “soft caramel finish”, that the wine was a “commercial wine” and less than $10. It’s in fact a single vineyard example from Luján de Cuyo in Argentina and from a well regarded producer. The book here may need a cover. In the glass, there are brooding aromas of spice and dark fruits. The palate is full bodied, with notes of boysenberry and blackcurrant jam and dark, savoury fruits. Drink this brooding, dark wine over the next 3 to 5 years. Review Rating: Good (★★★, 87 points). Website: La Posta Vineyards. Tasted: March 2026. Like: Subscribe.
