Poggerino Chianti Classico Review

Poggerino Chianti Classico 2023 Review

Poggerino is a top small organic producer in Tuscany in Italy. This wine, a Chianti Classico, is Poggerino at its best.  From the newly released 2023 vintage, the wine has attractive perfumed aromas of cherry and cedar.  Its distinguishing feature though is its palate. There are nuances of cherry, cedar and plum Tannic grip emerges with time in the glass.  The finish is long and supple. While characteristically sangiovese and Chianti Classico, were this Bordeaux, it would be more Margaux than Pauillac, or in Piemonte, more Barbaresco than Barolo.  This wine is a must buy and suitable for drinking over the next decade.  Review Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 92 points).
