This wine is Thymiopoulus’ xinomavro from Greece and is labelled as “Young Vines”. Greek wine labels can be unfortunately close to impenetrable for the English reader. Xinomavro is a grape variety indigenous to Greece. It is similar in style to nerollo mascalese and nebbiolo, and shares a light colour. It presents as a value alternative. This wine is from the 2022 vintage and has aromas of particularly sweet raspberries and tea leaves. The palate has some tannic grip, but not overly so. The mid palate is expressive of sweet red fruits. This is not a complex example of xinomavro, but a useful introduction to it. Drink over the next 5 years. Review Rating: Good (★★★, 85 points).
