Main Ridge Half Acre Pinot Noir Review

Main Ridge Half Acre Pinot Noir 2003 Review

Australian pinot noir has modest regard in an international context.  That sentiment is out-of-date. In 2025, there are at least half a dozen Australian regions producing distinguishable and desirable pinot noir. Producer commitment plays no small part. The best are comparable to premier cru quality.  This wine is from top producer Main Ridge Estate.  It is from the Mornington Peninsula, which has two main styles: “up the hill” and “down the hill”.  This wine is true to its location up the hill. At 22 years’ of age, it has an aromatic expression of leaves, earth and herbs.  The palate has a little more nuance, providing tertiary leaf and cherry characters. A medium to full body and good length completes the impression. Drink now. Review Rating: Good to Very Good (★★★☆, 89 points). Website: Main Ridge EstateTasted: May 2025.  Like: Subscribe.
