This is a sound current drinking wine from Parini and the nero d’avola grape variety in Sicily. Nero d’avola in my experience to date produces a lesser and more obvious wine than its fellow Sicilian red variety, nerello mascalese, the shining light of the region. In this case, Parini’s nero d’avola from the 2019 vintage is deeply coloured with a mid range saturation of colour. It has an aroma that reminds of raisins and has a generosity of fruit from its warm climate. The palate is dry, medium to full bodied and continues its raisined characters. There were no new oak characters. Acidity features at times in the wine and reminded of primitivo, although its alcohol is a little lower at 13.5% than a typical primitivo. Interestingly, I observed a similar comparison when reviewing a local nero d’avola from Innocent Bystander. Ready to drink now, Parini’s wine is pleasant drinking. Review Rating: Good (★★★, 85 points). Website: NA. Tasted: April 2024.
