Innocent Bystander in the Yarra Valley produces this nero d’avola from fruit sourced from hot climate Swan Hill in northern Victoria. Nero d’Avola is a Sicilian red variety. In the glass, this wine from the 2020 vintage has a light ruby colour and fruity aromas of raisins and red fruits. It reminds a little of zinfandel, although it is not nearly as rich. The palate is dry, unoaked, medium bodied and has medium acidity. The tannins are soft, ripe and almost imperceptible. Overall, this is a fairly basic red fruited wine that is ready to drink now.
