This a really interesting wine from Orange, a source of good cool climate sauvignon blanc and chardonnay. On this tasting, grüner veltliner may be safely added to the list. The wine has quite “correct” grüner varietal characters. I was not expecting the wine to remind quite so obviously of an Austrian style. Yet it is from a higher altititude corner of Australia. In the glass, there are varietal eminders of watercress, lemon and pepper. The palate is crisp and light bodied. The alcohol is low. This wine will reward current drinking. Rating: Good (★★★☆, 88 points). Website: Stockman’s Ridge Wines. Source: Sample. Tasted: June 2023.
