Mount Mary Quintet 2017

I last tasted Mount Mary’s 2017 vintage of its “Quintet” Bordeaux blend in the midst 2021 lockdowns and found it to be an outstanding wine. You can read the review together with reviews of all of their 2019 vintage releases here*. In 2023, the 2017 vintage of the Quintet remains compelling drinking. In the glass, it has green aromas of herbs, capsicum and cardomon. The palate is medium bodied, elegant and has pleasingly structured and saturated fruit (by which I mean dense rather than very ripe fruit). The 2017 Quintet remains an outstanding wine that can be approached now with a long decant and cellared for a decade or longer. Rating: Outstanding (96 points, ★★★★★). Website: Mount Mary. Reviewed: January 2023.
