Pepperjack is in the stable of brands owned by Treasury Wine Estates (TWE). Normally, this label sees shiraz and cabernet sauvignons from the Barossa Valley. Here, they have clearly branched out with a malbec from the contemporary home of malbec in Mendoza, Argentina. Ownership by TWE means the wine should be easy to find. As is typical of malbec from this region, the wine is a dark colour in the glass and opens to sweet and sour boysenberry fruits. The palate is dry, full bodied and tannic. This robust wine provides good value in the early $20s. Drink now and over the next 2 to 3 years. Rating: ★★★. Website: Pepperjack. Reviewed: October 2022.
