This wine review is of Zind Humbrecht’s “Roche Granitique” riesling from the warm 2018 vintage. White gold in colour in the glass, this is a savoury expression of riesling with notes of lemon, minerals and some phenolic characters from time on skins. The palate is dry, medium bodied, the acidity is medium (perhaps lower than usual due to the warm vintage), there are predominantly savoury and earthy characters and the wine finishes with medium length. This is a serious Alsace riesling can be approached now, but would benefit from 3-5 years in the cellar and then have a 10 year plus drinking window. Rating: Good to Very Good.
