Two sauvignon blancs and a pinot gris from the 2016 vintage

I tasted these wines blind in a lineup, hoping that the pinot gris (sorry, pinot grigio) might stand out, and the sauvignon blancs might give their (Australian) regions of Adelaide Hills and Orange, respectively away.  The former occurred but still required a bit of thought (the fuller body and less pronounced acidity being the clues for the pinot gris), but I found myself grasping at straws on the latter.  Here are the wines.

Angullong Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Orange
Pale intensity, water-like colour.  Pear and lemon characters on the nose.  The palate is racy with high acidity and lemon characters predominant.  Crisp and pleasant.  Rating: Good

Marko’s Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Adelaide Hills
Neutral nose, with hints of passionfruit.  The palate is an exercise in lemon, lime and grassy characters.  High acidity.  Pleasant finish.  Rating: Good

Angullong Pinot Grigio 2016, Orange
Esthery aroma of pears, and pear juice.  Towards full bodied on the palate, but restrained flavours with lemon characters tucked in by medium acidity.  Rating: Good
