Arras Blanc de Blanc 2005

Tasmanian sparkling seems quite a way ahead of the pack in Australia.  Would you bother making (serious) sparkling on the mainland if you started now?  Maybe, but only in the very coolest of sites.  I continue to mistake Arras’ excellent wines for Champagne in blind tastings – something I’m usually ok at spotting – such is their intrinsic quality and fresh acidity.  The 2005 Blanc de Blanc tasted here has aromatics of bread, brioche, lemon and stones.  The acidity is refreshing, the alcohol moderate (12.5%) and the balance well timed.  Another great release from the Arras.  Very Good

Abv: 12.5%, Price: $70s, Vendors and website: http://www.houseofarras.com.au, Tasted: 2015
