Arthurs Creek Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2000

I stumbled upon this Yarra Valley cabernet at a restaurant for the rather fair price of $50.  Not a trophy, or from the shores of Magrathea, just a really interesting, well priced local wine.  Arthurs Creek Estate was the label established by the late SEK Hume QC and it appears not to have been produced for a decade or so if the paucity of online information is indicative.  In the glass, the 2000 vintage is a leaner style of Yarra Valley cabernet sauvignon.  It exhibits mature characters of blackcurrant, gum leaf and wattle.  The palate is balanced and refined, with snappy acidity holding the wine together.  The bottle disappeared quickly.
