Georg Breuer Sauvage Riesling 2003

This riesling from the 2003 vintage from Georg Breuer in the Rheingau is a very good one.  At 11 years of age, it has taken on a golden colour and has aromatics reminding of nuts, lemon and kerosene.  The palate is dry – a state of affairs regrettably still unpredictable with many German labels – and is very balanced.  Its flavours are best summed up as honey on toast balanced by firm acidity and some lactic characters.  This is a lovely riesling that will interest most.

Abv: 12.5%, Price: $30s (current vintage), Vendors: www.wine-searcher.com, Website: http://www.georg-breuer.com, Tasted: 2014
