Xanadu Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

My impression of Xanadu’s cabernet sauvignon from the Margaret River is that it is getting better and better with each vintage.  The 2012 vintage sees 14 months in French oak, 40% of which is new.  It is has a classic cabernet sauvignon profile, with aromatics of blackcurrant, cloves and cedar.  The palate has medium length, maybe more, and some depth of flavour of clove, blackcurrant, cedar, iron filings and fine grained and dusty tannins.  This wine is just a baby at this point in its life, but impresses with its balance.

Rating: Good, Abv: 14%, Price: $35, Source: sample, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: http://www.xanaduwines.com, Tasted: 2014
