Majella’s “Musician” is a cabernet shiraz blend and is a reliable wine in the sub $20 price bracket that I have returned to over the years. The 2011 vintage was a difficult one in Coonawarra, and it shows in the wine. The aromatics remind more of cabernet than shiraz, with impressions of leaves and dried tobacco. The palate is in a lighter style, with notes of blackcurrant and a medium body. Overall, a certain balance is reached and there are no sharp edges, but this wine is usually a lot more interesting.
