Yering Station have hit a seam of form with their cabernet sauvignons. I thought the 2011 was pretty good, and this 2012 is better still. It has classic cabernet aromatics of clove, blackcurrant and cedar. The palate sees a medium length finish and flavours of blackcurrant and cedar. It has balance, poise, elegance and a satisfying depth of flavour. This is Yarra Valley cabernet is it can be, neither rustic, overdone, underdone nor green. Ready to drink now, it’s probably a five to six year proposition for the cellar and one to look out for.
