Lowe Tinja Chardonnay Verdelho 2013

This wine has a couple of angles – first, it uses the unloved verdelho to blend with chardonnay and second, it is produced with “no added preservatives” which I assume means that sulphur dioxide, which is used as a preservative and antibacterial agent, hasn’t been added to the wine. ┬áSome claim allergies to sulphur dioxide, and the wine is quite low in alcohol at 11.1% for those who suffer from the more obvious problem of drinking too much wine, so I guess the wine meets a couple of demographics. ┬áThe result? ┬áThe wine is quite aromatic – mostly spiced pears and apple, with some lemon and hay notes too. ┬áCertainly of interest. ┬áThe palate is simpler and tastes fresh and clean, reminding of spiced pear compote. ┬áIt finishes quite short, but is simple and pleasant. ┬áAcceptable
