Xavier Côtes-du-Rhône 2009

Xavier’s 2009 vintage Côtes du Rhône has a bright ruby colour in the glass.  Its aromatics remind of plum skins, plum, pepper and thyme, and is perhaps just a little cooked.  The palate is dry with slightly astringent tannins, medium-high acidity, and medium intensity flavours of cherry and plums.  There is short to medium length on the finish.   Overall, the alcohol and acid on this wine are a bit prominent to say that this wine is completely in balance, but nonetheless this wine has a certain drinkability and fruit that will see it happily consumed.  Acceptable to Good
