Mount Mary Chardonnay 2003

10 years can be a stretch for many chardonnays, and Mount Mary’s chardonnay here is probably on the other side of its peak.  A true gold in colour, it has subtle aromatics of honey, bread and herbs.  The palate is dry with medium-high acidity, and complex flavours reminding of toast, honey, stones and lemon pith.  The finish is towards long.  There’s some good length and complexity in this wine and so it warrants a good rating, although the fruit feels a little stretched and the wine has some mild oxidative characters.  Good
