Pio Cesare Dolcetto d’Alba 2011

This is perfectly pleasant drinking, if a little simple.  A deep intensity ruby in colour, Pio Cesara’s 2011 Dolcetto d’Alba has aromatics reminding of cherry, cola, spice, redcurrant, smoke and tobacco.  The palate is a little flat, with short length, light tannins and medium bodied flavours suggestive of redcurrant and tobacco.  Overall, the wine achieves a certain balance and drinkability in the glass, but doesn’t have a great deal of complexity or length.  Pleasant enough.  Acceptable
