Topper’s Mountain Nebbiolo 2010

The 2010 vintage of Topper’s Mountain nebbiolo from the New England wine region in northern New South Wales is an interesting wine.  It has light intensity aromatics of cherry, dried herbs and some earth.  The palate reveals high acid and reminds of cherry and a touch of earth in a lighter style, yet not lacking in depth or finish – the finish is quite strong.  Overall, this is a good quality nebbiolo with lovely balance and some nice length.  Although it lacks the earth and tar of the more structured styles from the Barola region, it reminds of the some of the lighter styles from Barolo itself and La Morra and is bright and fresh with resounding length.  Good
