Yering Station Village Chardonnay 2011

Yering Station’s Village chardonnay from the Yarra Valley is bright in the glass, with a pale intensity lemon colour.  It has medium intensity and developing aromas of pear, almond meal, oak and yellow grapefruit.  The palate is dry with medium acid, light to medium body, and flavours of lemon, oak, wood spice and short to medium length.  In terms of quality, this wine is acceptable due to its balance and delicate palate flavour profile.  Its delicate texture will appeal to some, although to others this chardonnay’s loose knit structure and at times dilute fruit will trouble.  A reasonable result from a wet year that is ready to drink now.
