Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles Premier Cru 2006

I’m yet to taste a poor Robert Chevillon wine.  This is another outstanding one, this time from Nuits-Saint-Georges and the premier cru appellation of Les Cailles.  Les Cailles is a 7.11 hectare plot and is directly north of Les Saint-Georges, the greatest climat in Nuits-Saint-Georges.  It is said to be subtle, feminine and have softer…Continue readingDomaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles Premier Cru 2006

A tasting of 2012 and 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Crus

Domaine Michèle & Patrice Rion Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Clos Saint Marc 2009

Burgundy as usual provides an intellectual excursion before the bottle is even opened.  This wine is from a premier cru vineyard, the Clos Saint Marc (also referred to as Aux Corvées), in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation in the Côtes de Nuits in the commune of Premeaux.  I can heartily recommend “The Wines of Burgundy” by Sylvain…Continue readingDomaine Michèle & Patrice Rion Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru Clos Saint Marc 2009

Beaune

The next instalment of my wine trip is Beaune proper, which preceded a trip down the A6 to Buxy in the Côte Chalonnaise.  Beaune is a town where it appears difficult to eat and drink poorly.  Starting with food, for lunch, I can recommend Le Comptoir des Tontons.  The owners are colourful, and the food…Continue readingBeaune
