Duckhorn Merlot 2022 Review

Duckhorn Merlot 2022 Review

Duckhorn produce fruit forward, oaked styles of merlot and cabernet sauvignon from the Napa Valley in California.   This wine is Duckhorn’s merlot from the 2022 vintage. There aren’t really styles of merlot like this produced in Australia, and it will have considerable appeal to those who enjoy the richer shiraz styles of Heathcote and the Borossa Valley.  As is typical of the Napa Valley, this wine has no seams.  There are aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and boysenberry.  The palate is full bodied with notes of oak and the fruit is ripe and saturated, without being overripe.  This is a crowd pleasing, silky and enjoyable wine suitable for drinking over the next 5 or more years.  Review Rating: Very Good (★★★★, 90 points). Website: Duckhorn Vineyards. Tasted: September 2026.
